Previous Microplanet Gravity Next |

· You can also use the right-click pop up menu in the group pane.
Unsubscribe Unsubscribe from a newsgroup. This removes the group from the newsgroup pane and deletes the group database.
· You can also use the right-click pop up menu in the group pane.
Retrieve Headers (Crtl+H) Retrieve new headers for the selected group(s) from the news server. You can select multiple groups in the group pane using the windows selection modifiers Control or Shift. The similar Retrieve Headers command in the Server menu is different because it retrieves the headers for all subscribed groups.
Retrieve Limited Number of Headers Allows you to specify the number of new headers to retrieve from the news server. This command overrides any server or newsgroup based limit you may have set. You can fetch more, or fewer articles.
· You can also use the right-click pop up menu in the group pane.
Note: Gravity retrieves the newest articles first.
Keep Sampled Newsgroup Convert the newsgroup from sampled to subscribed.
Mark as Read/Catch Up (Ctrl+Shift+C) Mark all articles as Read for the selected newsgroup(s). You can still view the articles you have read but not purged by using a display filter that shows read or all articles.
· You can also use the right-click pop up menu in the group pane.
· Gravity has a preference setting to include server articles not downloaded yet as read with the Catch Up command.
Get New Groups Retrieve a list of new newsgroups added to the news server since Gravity last stored the newsgroup list. Note that you can configure Gravity to check for new groups and display the results, if any, each time it connects to the news server.
Re-read All Groups Retrieve the entire list of news groups currently available at the news server and replace the current news group list.
Sort By .. Sort the articles in the thread pane. Normally articles are organized into threads. You can use the dialog box to sort by any column, in ascending or descending order.
Shortcut: Clicking the column headers is faster and does the same thing. Click the small black triangle (on the left side of the thread pane column headings) to switch between threaded and sorted view.
Filter Display Choose and apply a display filter from a list of defined filters (such as "Unread Articles").
Shortcut: The filter list on the Filter Bar is much faster.
Define Display Filter Add, edit, or delete display filters. See the Display Filters Chapter for more.
Shortcut: Click the "Filters" button on the Filter Bar .
Lock Filter Keeps the currently active filter from changing when switching news groups. If you don't lock the filter, the filter will revert to the default filter or the linked filter when you open a group.
Shortcut: The Pushpin on the Filter Bar does the same.
QuickFilter (Ctrl+Q or "/" Forward Slash) Show the QuickFilter dialog. The QuickFilter is a fast display filtering tool.
The QuickFilter allows the instant filtering of the thread list by Subject, From, or both (using "OR" logic, i.e. Subject OR From). This is different from the defined filters because you can filter temporarily "on the fly." You can use plain text strings or regular expressions. Use "F5" to refresh or restore the display according to the current defined filter. See the Quick Filter topic for more information.
Shortcut: Use the / (forward slash) key
Properties Use the newsgroup properties sheet to set attributes for the newsgroup, set group overrides, or change the display of the newsgroup pane. See Newsgroup Properties and Overrides
Shortcut: use from the right-click pop up menu in the group pane.
