Saving Articles

Save As (Ctrl+S) (also found in right-click menus)
Gravity saves articles in plain text only.
If only one article is selected, Gravity prompts to save that article. If more than one article is selected, Gravity can append the articles together and save them to the same file. You can also append to the same file later, without overwriting it.

·      The article headers saved in the text file are the headers visible in the article pane (which you can ).

·      If you want to save all headers, press "H" first.

·      You can import saved text messages into some e-mail clients like theBat! if you change the file extension to *.msg. However, you must save the full headers (press "H" first).

·      You can also save articles automatically with Rules, based on the author(s) or subject, or whatever rule conditions that you dream up. The articles are appended to the specified file.

·      Gravity saves the source article text and does not decode 7-bit encodings. You will see the encoding, as in:  From: =?iso-8859-15?Q?=CBlmer_Fudd? if the article has encoded words.

Appending to the Same File
You can append more articles to an existing text file. Select the article(s), use Save as .. and select a file. Gravity displays a prompt indicating that the file exists and offers three choices:

·      Overwrite the file

·      Append to end

·      Choose another filename
When saving manually Gravity does not insert a blank line between articles in the appended text file. If you save articles frequently, you can insert a blank line at the top of the article layout. If you make the font as small as possible, you will not notice much.
(If you save articles with a rule, a blank line and a row of dashes are included before the appended article)

Save Multiple Articles at One Time
You can save multiple articles to the same file at once. Select the articles by dragging with the mouse (or hold Control or Shift) and use Save as ..
All articles are saved to the same file. If the bodies are not stored locally, Gravity needs to download them, and will ask if it should retrieve them.

Save with Rules
One of Gravity's rule actions is "Append to File". For example, you could automatically save all articles from an author or a subject in one file.
·      You will need to create a separate rule for each file. ·      The rule can be enabled and the articles will be saved automatically.
Of course, saving requires the article body. If you are not storing article bodies, the article will not be appended until you read the article (when it is fetched). You can add the Rule action to "Retrieve Body" if you want it appended immediately.
