Recording Sounds
To record a new sound:
- Select the correct recording input, as described below, such as line-in or microphone.
- Choose the
(Record New) button on the Control window.
- Enter the duration for recording and choose OK. The default new file duration may be set using Control Record Properties.
Make sure you see activity on the horizontal L and R level meters while recording. The source volume should be adjusted so that it peaks in the orange or low red area, but not all the way. If there is no activity or the level is very low, change the input and/or volume or select a different recording device, explained below.
To record within an existing sound, choose the (Record Selection) button. You can select the part of the sound you want to record over. To make more room for recording, use Edit | Insert Silence.
Note that there are several options available for recording under the Record tab in the Control Properties window, including a countdown timer and level activated recording. See the Control Record Properties for more information.
Check the Monitor input recording option box to see the input levels on the visuals before starting recording and adjust the volume as needed. To hear the input, you may need to turn on monitoring in Windows.
