Score groups are managed in the . You can create Score Groups so that scoring will apply to multiple (or all) news groups.

·      You can add score phrases that apply to all news groups, or you can specify certain group(s).

·      Wildcards " * " are supported in group names.

A score group can be the news group name, but it may be a name with wildcards that applies to multiple news groups.

Add a Global Score Group

If you want certain score phrases to apply to all newsgroups (global), use the main scoring dialog. A global group will contain phrases that apply to all news groups on all servers. You don't have to make global score group, it is optional.  There are two ways to add a global score group.

1.   Do not create any groups, enter the first score word or phrase. The global group will be created for you.

2.   Select "Add Group" with the button in the main dialog and enter a single wildcard character (the star or asterisk).

The global group (if created) is designated with a single wildcard character:

If you have no other score groups, you can enter score phrases and they will appear in the global group:

Add Other Score Group(s)
If your scoring needs are not very sophisticated, you might be content with a global score group or adding scores for each newsgroup. However, you can create groups so that certain score phrases apply to only certain news groups.
Use the "Add Group" button. Score group names can be actual news group names, or can contain wildcards. For example comp.lang.*  or *binaries* or *mp3*. To match the dots in names, do like this *.mp3*
To enter a word or phrase in a score group, you will highlight the group (or an entry in that group) before adding the word.

If you use the "Add Scoring Entry" dialog ("S"), the phrase will be entered under the current news group and a corresponding group will be added in the main scoring dialog, if it does not exist.
There is a button in the "Add Scoring Entry" dialog that is a shortcut to the main scoring dialog, where you can enter the phrase in other groups, if desired.
