Using Signatures in Posts
When you post or follow-up an article, the default signature (if defined) is automatically added to the end of the article. Gravity adds the standard Usenet signature separator, "-- " (dash-dash-space). · Note that a default signature can be assigned to specific groups and it will override the global default (see below).
You can select a signature in the drop down list in the compose window. However, you must first create one or more signatures.
Creating Signatures: Tools - Global Options - Signature
Click the New Signature button and enter a name for the signature. You will use this name later to select a signature in the compose window.
If you want to use an external text file as the source of your signature, click the "Use a File" button to browse for a file name.
To make the currently selected signature the default, click the Set As Default button. The default signature will be added to every article unless you manually select another in the compose window.
Ø Do NOT enter the standard Usenet signature separator, "-- " (dash-dash-space). Gravity will do that for you when you post.
Usenet netiquette suggests limiting your signature to 4 lines or less
Assign Signatures to Specific Groups
You can have a different identity and assign another different default signature to any newsgroup. Use Newsgroup - Properties - Signature.
· You must first create the signatures in Global options to pick from the list.
Now Playing
You might wonder if you can use a rotating signature, like Winamp's "now playing" or a rotating signature. Gravity does not have an internal function to use rotating signatures at this time. However, certain external programs can write to a file. The way to do this (we are told) is to use a text file with Gravity's "Use a File" button and have the external application write to the text file.
