Entering Chinese
Usually in ChangJie mode, you can directly enter
radicals to form Chinese characters. In a few conditions, if the radicals may form more than one character or you use * (wildcard) for a radical you do not remember, you will need to choose characters. This is when New ChangJie will automatically choose a correct or common phrase for you. Before completing input - you can use Follow Characters or Enter
to complete input, if you find any phrase that needs changing, move the cursor to that phrase and use arrow keys for editting. For modification on phrases, see Picking Homony. The length of characters that ChangJie is able to modify automatically is 31. When the length is exceeded, the phrases before the thirty-second character will be sent automatically by ChangJie.
In addition, if you forget the radicals for a character, you may use * (wildcard) for help. Just replace the radical or radicals that you do not remember with *. Below lists all the possibilities of using '*' for ChangJie:
A* ; A*A ; AA* ; AA*A ; AAA* ; AAA*A ; AAAA*
A stands for one ChangJie key, and * may stand for 0 to 4 keys.
Tip
* should not appear as the first radical, and can be followed by only one radical.
