· No locking - Serial numbers will work on any computer. If you have no locking options turned on, then Thinstall allows you to generate a series of serial numbers to a text file. If locking options are turned on, then you can only generate one serial number at a time because you must enter the Machine-Id for each user.

· Lock to Windows Serial Number - Serial numbers will only work on computers with the same Windows Serial Number. The serial number is found through the registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ProductId.
Downsides: Locking to Windows Serial Number requires the user to obtain a new key if they upgrade their version of windows.

· Lock to Drive C Serial Number - Serial numbers will only work on computers with the same Volume Serial number for drive "C".
Downsides: Locking to the Drive C Serial Number requires the user to obtain a new key if they upgrade their hard-drive.

· Lock to Computer Name - Serial numbers will only work on computers that have the same Computer Name.
Downsides: Locking to the Computer Name requires the user to obtain a new key if they change the name of their computer.

Keygen Password - This can be any text string. This value is used to prevent other people from generating keys for your software package. If you have two versions of your software : version 1.0 and version 2.0 and you wish to allow users from 1.0 to continue to use the same key they had registered in the past, then you should make sure you use the same keygen password for 2.0.
Trial Period - This value controls the number of days until the trial demo no long allows the user to click on "Register Later".
