Araruama - Brasil
Araruama (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˌaɾaɾuˈɐ̃mɐ]) is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. It is located 118 km east of the city of Rio de Janeiro on national highway number 106, Rod Admiral Peixoto. Its population was 97,701 (2005) and its area is 634 km².
Its main geographic feature is a large bay by the same name. Araruama has a large area of Atlantic Forest in between the sea shore and the Araruama lake that belongs to the Costa do Sol State Park.

Sports
Araruama Lake is a flat water salt lagoon, and excellent spot for practicing water sports due to its constant winds and lack of obstacles. You can practice water sports almost all year long, with winds averaging 12 to 25 knots.
In 2010, Araruama hosted the Rio Worlds Windsurf Championship.
