LibreOffice 3.5.0 is out - Slackware packages ready
February 14th, 2012 by Niels Horn in LibreOffice, Slackware | No Comments »
Today version 3.5.0 of LibreOffice was released. The list of new features and fixes is impressive and can be found here.
As always, the updated SlackBuild script has been submitted to SlackBuilds.org and pre-built packages can be found on my site.
FreeCAD 0.12.5284 and OpenCASCADE 6.5.2 - Working together on Slackware
January 5th, 2012 by Niels Horn in FreeCAD, OpenCASCADE, Slackware
FreeCAD and OpenCASCADE
Building a new version of FreeCAD and OpenCASCADE is always a lot of fun…
These two projects are constantly evolving, but almost never 'in sync'.
In December a new version of the OpenCASCADE library was released - 6.5.2. It solves several bugs and looked like a good reason to build a newer version of FreeCAD [...]
mysqlcc revisited - making it work with mysql 5.5
December 19th, 2011 by Niels Horn in mysqlcc
How this all started
About a year and a half ago I wrote a patch to get mysqlcc ("MySQL Control Center") to build with newer versions of mysql and the gcc compiler. This post can be found here and I've received several replies on this blog and through e-mail since.
After mysql 5.5 was released, I received [...]
Slackware packages for LibreOffice 3.4.3
August 31st, 2011 by Niels Horn in LibreOffice, Slackware | No Comments »
Today LibreOffice 3.4.3 was released. Updating my SlackBuild script is now extremely simple, so the newest packages can already be downloaded from my site while the SlackBuild is waiting in the pending queue.
I also built the usual language packs and they are being uploaded as well and should be available later tonight.
FreeCAD, OpenCASCADE and Pivy updated - Slackware packages available
August 14th, 2011 by Niels Horn in CAD, FreeCAD, OpenCASCADE, Pivy, Slackware | No Comments »
Updating FreeCAD was long over due - the last package I built was for 0.9.2646 and they're currently in the 0.11 series. But it is not a simple package to build - it requires some time and patience to get it all right…
Dependencies
FreeCAD is based on OpenCASCADE, which has been updated a few [...]
Slackware package for QComicBook updated
August 3rd, 2011 by Niels Horn in QComicBook, Slackware | No Comments »
With all the updates to packages, I forgot completely to mention QComicBook. I updated my SlackBuild script for version 0.8.1, which now also supports pdf files.
As always, the pre-built packages can be downloaded from my site.
LibreOffice 3.4.2 Released - Slackware packages available!
August 2nd, 2011 by Niels Horn in LibreOffice, Slackware | No Comments »
Today (or yesterday, depending on your timezone) LibreOffice 3.4.2 was released.
Officially stable
This is the first release from the 3.4 series that is officially declared stable enough for enterprise use. So now we can all retire our 3.3.x installations and start using 3.4.2.
I admit that I've been using the 3.4 versions since 3.4.0, but I'm not [...]
Transmission Slackware package updated to 2.33
July 26th, 2011 by Niels Horn in Slackware, transmission | No Comments »
I received two different reports over the last few days that version 2.31 of Transmission was causing segmentation faults and that the new 2.33 version solved this.
Although I use Transmission all the time, I never experienced this problem. But, since updating to 2.33 solves this for others, I updated my SlackBuild and submitted the new [...]
LibreOffice 3.4.1 package for Slackware and what to do about missing sources…
July 21st, 2011 by Niels Horn in LibreOffice, Slackware
Another version of LibreOffice was released recently, 3.4.1.
When I first "created" the SlackBuild for LibreOffice (I actually adapted rworkman's OpenOffice.org script with his permission) it was because I was convinced that it would substitute OpenOffice.org eventually, as "open source" and "Oracle" did not sound like a happy marriage. And it seems that I was right, [...]
New Slackware package for Transmission 2.31
June 29th, 2011 by Niels Horn in Slackware, transmission | No Comments »
Yes, I've been too busy lately to announce all new packages on my blog, but I do try to update most of them when new versions come out.
Today I updated the transmission package, for which version 2.31 was released recently. It adds a few interesting enhancements (like trying to download the scarcest pieces first) and [...]
