The placeholders in my equation disappeared

Symptoms

Equation placeholders don't appear in your document on the screen or in print.

Cause

Equation placeholders are small, dotted boxes in an equation . Placeholders don't appear in your document in Full Screen Reading view, in Print Preview, or in printed documents.

Resolution

To view the placeholders, select an alternate view.

  • Web Layout
  • Outline
  • Draft
