By default, unspecified paths to hyperlink destination files are relative to the location of the document. Use this procedure when you want to set a different default path. After you change the default path, you need to enter only the file name, not the new path, in the Insert Hyperlink dialog box.

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button button image, point to Prepare, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Property Views and Options arrow, click Advanced Properties, and then click the Summary tab.
  3. In the Hyperlink base box, type the path that you want to use.

Note You can override the hyperlink base address by using the full path for the hyperlink in the Insert Hyperlink dialog box.
