Vertical alignment determines the position of the text within a section of a document relative to the top and bottom margins.
Vertical alignment is often used to create a cover page or title page for a document. In Microsoft Office Word, you can quickly and easily add a cover page to your document without having to change the vertical alignment option.What do you want to do?

You can change the vertical alignment of the text within a section or of selected text only. You can align the text at the top of the page, center the text, justify the text, or align the text at the bottom of the page.
- On the
Page Layout
tab, click thePage Setup
Dialog Box Launcher, and then click theLayout
tab. - In the
Vertical alignment
box, click the option that you want. - In the
Apply to
box, clickWhole document

, orThis point forward
, and then clickOK
.
Create a cover page
In Office Word, you can choose from a selection of predesigned cover pages to create a professional-looking document quickly and easily.
- On the
Insert
tab, in thePages
group, clickCover Page
. - Click the cover page that you want.
A cover page is always added to the beginning of the open document.
