Tagging and Downloading Articles

This is the traditional (and manual) method for off-line reading and requires two steps. First, you tag the article(s), and second, you tell Gravity to retrieve them.
Browse through your groups and tag the articles that you want to retrieve.

Step 1. Tag Articles
(T) To tag an article, press the "T" key or use the toolbar button.
You see a small yellow tag in the status column.
To UN-TAG (remove the tag),  select the article(s) and use the Tag command again (Tag is a toggle command).
Step 2. Download Articles   After connecting, use one of these commands to fetch the article bodies from the server.
Server Menu - Retrieve Tagged Articles (Ctrl+Shift+R). This commands retrieves ALL tagged articles  from ALL groups on the current server.   Server Menu - Retrieve Tagged for Selected Groups, or Pop-Up Menu (Group Pane) - Retrieve Tagged for Selected Groups
This last two commands retrieve tagged articles for ONE group (or selected multiple groups).

Tagging Tips

·       You can tag an entire thread at once: 1)  collapse the thread, 2) select the visible article, and 3) press “T” or tag (also see the Watch Thread trick below).

·       You can use the mouse to "drag" over a continuous range of articles by holding down the left mouse button, and then tag the selection at once. Or, use Shift or Control to select multiple articles. It can help to sort the articles by clicking the column headings, or to use the Quick Filter.
Another Trick:
You can use the Watch Thread command behavior to fetch all the non local article bodies in a thread, without permanently adding to the Watch List. Be aware this happens immediately if online, unlike tagging. It is simple (press W twice).

1.   Press W - the thread is added to the Watch List.

If ONLINE, Gravity starts downloading the article bodies.

If OFFLINE, Gravity tags the articles in the thread. You can purposely disconnect first if you want to tag rather than download.

2.   Press W again, and the thread is removed from the Watch Thread list. If the articles are tagged, the tags will remain.
