Part III

Special Topics

Parts I and II of Programming Microsoft Visual J Plus Plus demonstrate how to write generic and Microsoft Windows-based apps. Both of these parts are laid out in a logical progression, with each chapter building on previous chapters. After reading these first two parts, you should have a rich understanding of how to write generic and Windows-based apps.

By comparison with the first two parts, Part III consists of a set of unrelated topics. With the exception of and , which talk about applets, each of the chapters in this part can be understood by itself without reference to the other chapters within this part.

The fact that the topics in Part III are unrelated to each other does not diminish their importance in any way. Understanding features such as database access, applet generation, ActiveX controls, and Dynamic HTML will add significantly to your capabilities as a Visual J Plus Plus programmer.
