MP3 Properties

Location: Choose the Attributes link after selecting "MPEG Audio" file type under , , , and other places where a file type and attributes must be specifed.

Use these settings to control MP3 related attributes directly. If VBR quality is off, a constant bitrate specified by the first value of the Bitrate range is used. Otherwise a variable bitrate (VBR) is used with the minimum and maximum bitrates specified by Bitrate range. Note that the range of available bitrates depends on the sampling rate. Selecting a lower or higher sampling rate lists lower and higher ranges of available bitrates.

The Channels setting control the number of channels in the file and how stereo encoding is handled. Use Mono to create a single channel file. The other options create a stereo file. Use Stereo to create a typical stereo file. Use Joint Stereo to get better compression when the left and right channels contain similar audio. Use Dual Channnel when the left and right channels contain completely different audio (the LAME encoder may not support this option).

The MPEG settings box controls what bits are set in the MPEG header. Include CRC tells the encoder to include CRC data after the header. Copyright means the audio is copyrighted. Original means the audio is new or original material.
