Genny Test v0.24, Wed, 21 Mar 2001 04:56:07 +0000
Greetings,
I've added the clear command.
I've moved the curses interface code to curses_ui.py, which can be used on any project (other than genny), but it isn't very good. I also quickly wrote boring_ui.py which doesn't use curses.
I've partly written some are-you-there checking, but it doesn't work yet so I'm releasing this with it commented out.
I moved send operations to raw_send() and recv operations to raw_recv(),
which try and except things more or less properly.
So this release can be made to work for people without curses, take a look at line 38 of genny.py and take a guess what you need to do.
I've shortened the default prompt so now you can type a little more on a line. Heh.
See http://www.gnutelladev.com/source/genny/genny-0.24.tar.gz.
I have spent a lot of my time changing Pytecache and tweaking the HostsCache website. Much more time than I've been spending on Genny.
I've learned a lot so it's not a loss. :o I've done some thinking about the future of Genny's place in the universe or whatever.
I'm thinking of calling it part of Pyng (an earlier project of mine that didn't get anywhere because I didn't know what I was doing).
Gnutella would be Pyng level 0, Genny would be Pyng level 1, and Pyng as I know it now (which turns out to have some pretty neat ideas) would be Pyng level 2. And just generally Pyng would stand for "interesting distributed or peer-to-peer protocols". I have some other ideas simmering on this in my mind that I won't share :o.
