Typographical Conventions

The following typographical conventions are used in this tutorial:

  • Italic
  • Used for filenames, Unix command names, URLs, daemons, emphasis, and the first use of terms where defined
  • Constant width
  • Used for function and method names and their arguments, and to show literal code in text
  • Constant width italic
  • Used to identify replaceable values
  • Constant width bold
  • Used to show default values in syntax lines and to indicate user input
