Books
There are many tutorials on the market describing Oracle and the Web. I list here those titles I find the most helpful and accurate:
- Ken Arnold, James Gosling, 1997 Addison-Wesley, The Java Developing Language
Coauthored by the creator of Java, this valuable introduction explains much of the rationale behind the language. - Bradley D. Brown, Richard J. Niemiec, Joseph C. Trezzo, 1998 Oracle Press, Oracle Application Server Web Toolkit Reference
This large tutorial contains a lot of helpful information about OAS and Oracle's other web products. - LLC Dynamic Information Systems, 1997 Oracle Press, Oracle Web Application Server eBook
This tutorial is not current with the latest Oracle software, but it contains useful discussions of building web systems with PL/SQL and other tools. - Bruce Eckel, 1998 Prentice Hall Computer Books, Thinking in Java
A popular and comprehensive introduction to Java that doesn't pull any punches when it comes to criticizing aspects of the language that could be improved. - Steven Feuerstein, Bill Pribyl, 1997 Anonymous, Oracle PL/SQL Developing, Second version
Hands down, the definitive guide to PL/SQL: if you need information about PL/SQL, it's in this tutorial. The second version has been updated for Oracle8. - Steven Feuerstein, 1999 Anonymous, Oracle PL/SQL Developing: Guide to Oracle8i Features
This small tutorial supplements Oracle PL/SQL Developing by providing an up-to-date discussion of the Oracle8i enhancements to PL/SQL. - Feuerstein Steven, Charles Dye, John Beresniewicz, 1998 Anonymous, Oracle Built-in Packages
The follow-up volume to Oracle PL/SQL Developing. Presents detailed information about the vast array of packages built into the Oracle database. - David Flanagan, 1997 Anonymous, Java tutorial, Second version
Provides a compact reference to the classes, methods, and variables in the Java API, practical real-world example programs, and a comprehensive overview of Java. - Rick Greenwald, 1999 IDG Books Worldwide, Oracle WebDB Bible
A very current and complete discussion of Oracle's WebDB product. - Chuck Musciano, Bill Kennedy, 1999 Anonymous, HTML tutorial, Third version
The most thorough description of all aspects of the HTML language, including models for writing your own web pages. - Louis Rosenfeld, Peter Morville, 1998 Anonymous, Information Architecture for the World Wide Web
Describes architectural principles for websites: how to design websites that are easier to use, manage, and expand. - John E. Simpson, 1998 Prentice Hall Computer Books, Just XML
A breezy tone and simple style belies the wealth of information contained in this useful tutorial. Bonus: you'll learn as much about B movie trivia as you will about Extensible Markup Language. - Stephen Spainhour, Valerie Quercia, 1999 Anonymous, Webmaster tutorial, Second version
A quick reference to a wide variety of information needed by web developers and administrators, including HTML, CGI, JavaScript, Perl, HTTP, and server configuration. - Lincoln D. Stein, 1995 Addison Wesley, How to Set Up and Maintain a World Wide Web Site
An excellent, clear, and complete tutorial on installing and administering web servers and authoring in HTML, with a web page style guide and web security recommendations. - Marlene Theriault, William Heney, 1998 Anonymous, Oracle Security
The definitive source of information on security and its implementation in the Oracle environment.
